Join instructors from Holme Pierrepont Canoe Club in this hour and a half session at the back of the lagoon pool to learn the fundamentals of Stand Up Paddle Boarding.

All equipment will be provided apart from your buoyancy aid, which you will need to collect from the 'have a go' area.

You will get on the water, have time to practice and work on your skills and take part in some games and activities to develop these skills on the Stand Up Paddle Board.

This is a great workshop for beginners who are interested in trying a Stand Up Paddle Board out, or for those looking to get their own boards and wanting to define your skills.

Key InformationWhat you need to know before booking on Lagoon Wipeout
  1. Children 8 to 11 years of age must be accompanied by a participating adult over the age of 18 in a ratio of three children to one adult. Not suitable for children under the age of 8.
  2. Children Aged 12-14 must have an adult supervise from the bank alongside this adult also signing them in at registration.
  3. Arrive at least 30 mins prior to your session to get changed – there are no refunds if you miss your session.
  4. The Wipeout takes place on naturally sourced water
  5. Bring a swimming costume to wear under your wetsuit
  6. Buoyancy aid and wetsuit hire is included in the price
  7. We have changing facilities and showers  – so bring your towel and £1 for lockers
  8. All participants must be confident swimmers
  9. Children under the age of 8 are not permitted to use the inflatable
  10. Height and weight restrictions apply of min 1.3m and max weight 18 stone.
  11. No jewellery or shoes on the inflatable – including removable earrings.
  12. Your one hour session includes 45 minutes on the Aqua Challenge and 15 minutes briefing
  13. Expect to get wet!
White Water Terms and Conditions

Use of the grade 3 rapids on the White Water course at the National Water Sports Centre is considered to be an extreme sport and therefore carries risks higher than normal activities. 

When purchasing your ticket you will be asked to confirm you have read the terms and conditions below. When confirming you are declaring that you are competent in White Water use and that you can successfully perform the following:

  1. An Eskimo roll in grade 3 white water – unless in a guided workshop.
  2. A Self rescue in grade 3 white water – this is necessary both in a workshop and on your own.
  3. A safe swimming (defensive) position in grade 3 white water

General Rules

  • You must follow all rules relating to the use of white water contained within this document and on display around the course.
  • You must be aware that water levels and features can change over a very short period of time and therefore you must check the conditions prior to every use. 
  • You must wear a CE/ISO marked Buoyancy Aid and Helmet at all times whilst on the White Water Course.
  • All equipment you use on the White Water Course must be of White Water specification and be fit for purpose.
  • The course is fed directly from the River Trent. The River Trent is not a bathing water and can have fluctuating bacteria levels. You are signing to say you have read and understood this.
  • The White Water Course is not supervised by safety teams. You must bring with you a “Buddy”. A “buddy” is there to monitor your safety whilst paddling. A “Buddy” can be a fellow White Water user or a suitably qualified / trained bank support person. 
  • All people providing bank support must hold a Foundation Safety and Rescue qualification or higher or can prove they have undergone training at the National Water Sports Centre in bank support.
  • All bank support users must wear CE/ISO marked Buoyancy Aid and Helmet whilst performing bank support.
